Why is BGMI banned in India? Google and Krafton offer statements
BGMI was launched as a rehashed version of PUBG Mobile that was banned in 2020.
Why is BGMI banned in India?
There is not a clear reason behind the ban on BGMI in India, but it seems to be linked to a recent alleged payoff over PUBG. According to a recent report, a 16- time-old boy shot and killed his mama over an argument about online games like PUBG. The Indian law enforcement was probing the incident.
Union Minister Rajeev Chandrashekhar noted that PUBG was banned in India in 2020, but banned apps have been resurfacing in new incorporations. This was a clear reference to BGMI, which launched as a new interpretation of PUBG Mobile minus the disturbing rudiments.
BGMI has been pulled from the Play Store because of a government order - a person familiar with the matter.

Google in a statement said," On damage of the order, following established process, we've notified the affected inventor and have blocked access to the app that remained available on the Play Store in India."
Meanwhile, Krafton said," we are clarifying how BGMI was removed from Google Play and will let you know once we get specific information."
